Abstract

Life values as a source of knowledge in character education can be obtained from local wisdom, as well as the cultural values of the community. The main language of local wisdom is caring for others and the environment. ln lecturing on the practice of hospitality, students are expected to have competencies in their fields, including: front office, housekeeping, food products and food service, They must also have a good character, such as: (spiritual emotional), (intellectual development), (physical and kinesthetic) and (affective and creativity), these must be owned by students when going to work, namely the hotel industry which in principle sells services in the form of lodging, preparing food and drink and other facilities. It is necessary to formulate the design of character learning models in the learning of hospitality practices based on local wisdom for students of the Department of Tourism. The character learning model will be developed more operationally so that it is easy to implement in institutions. The learning model obtained will be very useful for determining the steps or policies related to character education in learning practices based on local wisdom in the form of steps to improve the quality of human resources in the Hospitality industry. Leading research institutions which become the main umbrella of research up to 2021 are research in the Field of Excellence. 1) Development of Coconut Commodity Processing to Support the Empowerment of Natural Resources in North Sulawesi. 2) Strengthening Community Economy through Human Resource Development lnfrastructure Development and Sustainable Utilization of Natural Resources, 3) Maritime and Environmental Development Center to Support Maritime Empowerment in North Sulawesi Research methods used Based on the purpose of research in the first year that is to find the design of learning models for hospitality practices of students majoring in hospitality. the research and development method (Research and Development) will be combined with the Action Research Method.
