Abstract
Turtles are ancient animals protected by Law NO. 5 of 1990 because their lives are threatened with extinction. Indonesia is a place for turtles to lay eggs for 6 out of 7 species in the world, one of which is in TolounMinahasa Village, North Sulawesi, which is often visited by 4 turtle species to lay their eggs. The purpose of this study 1) To describe the survival rate of turtles in 2021 and 2022; 2) Describe the handling of turtles corning to lay eggs, to release.; 3) Knowing the efforts and challenges experienced in turtle conservation activities. By using a qualitative descriptive approach to compile a narrative and direct observation/patrol methods at the research site and calculating the hatching success formula, the results of the study found that the Lekang turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) dominates the coast of Toloun village in 2021 and 2022, there are also Hawksbill turtles. , Green turtles and leatherback turtles laying eggs at the site in 2021 with a hatching percentage of 86.8% and 2022 with a hatching success rate of 65.6% and 92.47%, respectively. This conservation has great opportunities, but there are still many ineffective efforts due to the lack of manpower and material assistance, as well as the frequent hunting of turtles.
